President speech

Dear Consul General Mr. LI Lin, Deputy Director Ms. LIU Hongmei, Dr. Monteverde, distinguished guests and friends,

First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to you for taking time to attend this meeting from your busy schedule, to jointly witness the signing of Strategic Cooperation Agreement between Hainan International Economic Cooperation and Exchange Association and Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporation. My appreciation also goes to Mayor Sara Z. Duterte for her concern about and support to this meeting.

This is the first meeting between our two parties. We have to hold it online due to the pandemic covid-19, but I think it will never reduce our two parties’ sincerity for cooperation, and I firmly believe that it will produce expected result.

For a long time, the Philippines has always been a good friend of China, and one of our most important partners in the “Belt and Road” Strategy. Hainan Province and Davao City have a lot in common, and the two parts have conducted close cooperation in many areas already.

Hainan is an important International Tourism Island and Free Trade Port in  China. It boasts rich natural resources and beautiful cultural landscape. It also enjoys certain autonomous legislative power and huge preferential policies for economic development, which presents unprecedented opportunities for economic development.

As the economic and administrative center of Mindanao, Davao city also enjoys unique natural resources and rich tourism resources. It is worthy of the name “Paradise in South Sea” , and plays an significant role in the Philippines. I personally has expected to visit Davao Museum, Lon Wa Temple, and Apo Volcano. But it’s a pity the visit has not been realized till now due to several reasons.

We have always been looking forward to the exchange and cooperation with Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporation, to jointly promote the development of economy, tourism, education, and culture between Davao city and Hainan province by playing each party’s role of bridge. Meanwhile, we are willing to help each other to deal with covid-19 epidemic together.

I hope we will continue to enhance our relationship and exchange, establish a regular communication system, strengthen information sharing, and support each other. Moreover, constantly expand areas for cooperation, explore and innovate cooperation model.

We sincerely invite President Dr. Monteverde and your colleagues to take a business visit to Hainan to discuss issues and exchange ideas with us after the epidemic is being controlled. We also would like to invite Mayor Sara Z. Duterte and Consul General Mr. LI Lin to take time to visit Hainan from your busy schedule, and give guidance to our association.

I will head a delegation to visit Davao city in the Philippines at a convenient time to further promote investment and cooperation, and enjoy the wonderful landscape of Davao city.

At last, I’d like to express my appreciation again to Deputy Director Ms. LIU Hongmei for her attendance and support to this meeting, to Mr. LIN Junfen for his contribution to the success of this meeting, and to all the guests and friends attending this meeting. Thank you!
